Minimally Invasive Image Guided Procedures
Vascular and Interventional Radiologists use imaging during procedures - referred to as image guidance - to safely and precisely access a particular organ or space inside a patient's body using a thin needle, soft catheters, and safe, minimally invasive techniques.
Imaging enables us to see inside of a patient without ever having to make an incision. Imaging includes ultrasound, CT, and fluoroscopic guidance (live x-ray).

IR procedures can be split up into two main categories: treatment and sampling (also known as biopsy). Please see our Precision Treatment and Comprehensive Biopsy pages for more information.
These procedures are often performed with sedation to make patients feel comfortable and relaxed, and general anesthesia is typically not needed. Patients usually get to go home the same day as their procedure.
